MAT6296   Introduction to Research Skills   (10 credits)

Description

You will attend a number of events with the aim of introducing you to research skills: (a) A residential event at the beginning of semester one provides an introduction including team-building activities and study skills. (b) Introduction to Research - Essentials. A 1-day workshop aims to help you understand the personal and practical challenges of undertaking a PhD and submitting a thesis. (c) Industrial visits provide an opportunity for you to experience materials engineering in practice and will help to inform your PhD project choices. (d) The CDT conference at the end of the year provides a round-up of the year's activities. You will present a poster on your mini project and future research plans.
